The most popular infant gifts are definitely clothing. Blankets, Onesies and shoes seem to be the most popular.
Blankets
A thicker blanket is nice to put down on the floor for the baby to crawl on. A thinner or fleecy blanket is best to wrap up the baby. In either case, it’s nice to give a blanket away. The proud parents will think of you every time they pull out the blanket. It will be especially meaningful if the blanket is handmade by you.
Onesies
An Onesie is one of the outfits that snap at the legs. It’s like a long shirt that covers the diaper. This is probably the most common item worn by babies. However, as a gift, you should keep in mind that most people already have a lot of them. That means this gift should go to a first time parent or be personalized to make it unique in some way. For example, we bought someone a black Onesie that was very hard to find. We bought it because the dad loved wearing black Tee shirts.
Shoes
The shoes look really neat. They are so cute. However, it really isn’t very practical. Infants don’t walk and the shoes will often come off.
There is a trend for some really neat shoes when the infant gets towards walking age. They are all soft leather shoes that almost look like moccasins. They are made by Robee and other manufacturers. They are very cute and comfortable for small children. Some people say it helps them learn to walk easier because they can feel the ground better.
